The Self-Replicating Email Monstrosity
Email wastes energy and storage.
Whenever you send a file by email, that file goes to your Internet Service Provider (ISP), through the network, through the recipient's ISP and finally to the recipient. At each ‘node’ along the way, that message is copied and stored resulting in an ever increasing explosion of copies and backups. So the one file you sent may be copied and stored 20 times before it reaches its destination. If there’s a reply it goes through the same process again. Send a 10MB file to 10 people and it might increase the total ‘size’ on the entire network by 1000 times.
All of that information has to be stored. Those servers have to be built. The building that houses those servers has to be air-conditioned. Electricity has to be used to run everything. While the cost of bandwidth is decreasing, the hard costs associated with this exponential replication of all this data isn’t. The total environmental cost is staggering.
Sendside is simple, elegant, and completely efficient: When you Sendside a message with an attachment, the recipients all receive the message and a ‘link’ to the attachment. The attached file is not 'sent' until the recipient ‘downloads’ the file. There is no replication. The file is not copied by all of these ‘nodes’ and is only delivered when and where needed. So a 100MB file on Sendside is always just 100MB, even if you send it to 1000 people.
Whether you're an inside sales team sending one-to-one sales cummunications, a bank or hedge fund sending financial statements electronically, or any other business communicating with your customers, Sendside offers the most efficient and elegant solution possible.
